When I started the BlueLineMillennial podcast, I had a handful of additional goals. One of those goals was to give back to officers around the country for the work they do. In my time in law enforcement, I've met officers, deputies and troopers who are either not issued critical equipment, such as a firearm, handcuffs, and flashlights, or the equipment they were issued expired some time around the time President Taft was in office.
This is unacceptable.
Now, the blame cannot be placed upon the agency. Police departments have to fight for funding alongside other city or county-services. City councils or county supervisors have to determine where the limited money can go. Even prior to the "defund the police" movement, agencies have struggled to have enough money to provide the very best for their officers. These officers have taken it upon themselves to purchase their guns, holsters, boots, and uniforms, leaving them with a very limited budget to buy other items such as tourniquets and first aid kits, plate carriers, and other ancillary items.
